I think I was born to be a maker. Or maybe it’s because I’ve learned to be frugal at a young age. Growing up, it was pretty no frills. I remember taking an empty cabinet and turning it into a Barbie living room, cutting fabric to make curtains and clothes for the dolls. I learned to be resourceful.
Now, when I see something I like at a store, I always think, “Can I make that?”. And if the answer is yes, then I don’t buy it! Or I search the online marketplace or second hand stores to see if I can buy it used. Chances are, somewhere out there, someone is getting rid of something they don’t need anymore!
I also save plastic containers to reuse in the garden and other things. Last year, I discovered the petit pots of yogurt by Maison Riviera (which is btw, delicious!) and fell in love with them! Then I discovered that there are kids available for them so you can reuse the jars!!! To Longos I went and got myself at least 12 kids. Then I scoured FB to see if anyone was getting rid of these jars and boy, did I get lucky!!!! I ended up with a box of at least 25 jars!

Which leads me to my next point. Fruit on the bottom yogurt. They can get expensive though and the amount of waste from those individual cups can add up! So I started making our own – and I can customize them to any flavour we like!

Fruit Purées are easy to make. Frozen or fresh fruits, sugar and a blender is all you need. I make them and freeze in ice cube silicon trays and put them back in the packages for later use. These would also be great for smoothies!

Another thing I experimented on was yogurt pops. I used a 1.5”x1.5” silicon ice cube tray and waited until the mixture is partially frozen before sticking a popsicle stick in it. All I did was simply mix some 11% Greek Yogurt with the fruit purée to make the pops. One flavour I experimented on is the Pineapple Coconut with Lychee Boba Pearls. My kids were eating them for breakfast this morning!

So, will you try your hand at making these yogurt pops? Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day!!!
