Family Day

Yesterday was a statutory holiday in Ontario. Family Day. We spent the whole day at home, mostly outdoors since the weather was so nice! If you could believe it, it was 10 degrees out for most of the day!!!

One part of our backyard.

Our backyard is spacious so you can imagine how much snow we had. One can go snowshoeing there if they chose to. In fact, there’s a pair of really old snowshoes (yeah, the ones that look like tennis rackets) on the door of our garden shed.

Old gallon buckets used as snow mold.

When life hands you a lot of snow, make an igloo!!! And so we did. It took a while to build it and the girls helped as well, mostly filling in gaps with snow. All in all, it was a great day to spend outdoors building with snow. Did you build anything in your back/front yard with your kids? I’d love to see pictures!!!

Hanging solar lights.
Enjoying the hard work.

As you may or may not know, our Magidome got destroyed by the last snowstorm. The entire thing caved in from the weight of the snow and there was no way to fix it. So we stripped off the plastic and salvaged the screws as much as possible. We didn’t finish but we got more than halfway! When the snow is gone, we will be building new domes again – this time smaller.

The dome, or what’s left of it.

With a week and a half of February left, spring is definitely around the corner and we’re going to be busy with seed starting and building structures outdoors as soon as the snow clears! I can’t believe that February is almost over.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my post. Have a great day!
