What’s Cooking?

This week was my Japanese Cuisine week – at least for dinners. Yesterday I made fried rice with spam, edamame, corn, eggs and cabbage. i also made a stir fried teriyaki udon with ground beef. It was a hit!

Today’s dinner was a katsu sando. Sando means sandwich in Japanese. I cheated and used Peameal bacon (because I had it and it’s already seasoned) and Panko crumbs. For the side I made homemade potato wedges with Yukon gold potatoes. @lvmika told me not to make fries any other way. That must be good thing!

Im sorry if you’re reading this late at night and getting hungry. Btw, you can use any protein really for the katsu. Katsu just means cutlet. Go ahead and try making a tofu or chicken or fish katsu. Beef prob won’t work as well as you can’t just bite into a piece of steak – you need a knife to cut it!

Are you interested in trying any of these? Let me know what you would like to see me make next time.

P.S. I’ve been watching a lot of fermented food videos and am thinking of making my own shoyu and miso. Have you made these before?
