Spring Fever

Anytime the sun is out, I want to work outside. That’s what’s been happening for the last week or so. I’ve been meaning to blog since we’ve been so busy with so many projects. Also, it’s Passover and Easter.

The chicken coop is finally finished! All that’s left is to build them a run so they can be moved outside. Weather wise, we’re still expecting a blast of winter in the next day or so and the night temperatures need to be above 10 degrees out.

We’re happy to share that we found the cockerels a new home! The pullets are now 16 weeks old and in the next 3-4 weeks, maybe we’ll start seeing eggs. We’re so excited. Also, with the boys gone maybe the girls will have a chance to eat their share and grow more now that they don’t have to be the last to eat!

A new Magidome is up and almost finished! This time we used steel connectors and 2”x3” pieces of lumber for more strength. When the sun is out, it can get up to 25-27 degrees C in there! I’ve moved some of the cold hardy seedlings in there to free up space in the basement.

Some seedlings have gone into a couple of the beds. We used plastic and old windows to build a makeshift cold frame for them in case it gets too cold. I can’t wait to fill the rest of the beds with plants!!!

In the front of the property, all the bulbs have sprung! The first to bloom are the crocuses and Siberian Squills. We also have a cherry tree at the front and I can’t wait to see the cherry blossoms.

Until the next post, thanks again for reading my blog and pls leave comments. I love hearing from others!
